IPA, the partner for public affairs and government relations of the “Startups Without Borders” summit, participated in its fifth edition held in District 5 on May 10 and 11, 2024.
During a panel discussion titled “New Horizons for Startups: The Importance of Enhancing Interactions Between Startups and Corporates,” Walid Ramadan, the CEO of IPA, emphasized the importance of monitoring the legislative and political landscape. He stated, “It is crucial for startups to be aware of legislative and regulatory developments that may impact their operations in Egypt and foreign markets.”
Ramadan highlighted the impact of the investment capital assessment method introduced by the Egyptian Financial Regulatory Authority, which facilitated the investment process in startups. He also mentioned the influence of the European Union regulations for 2022, such as the Digital Markets Act (DMA) and the Digital Services Act (DSA), on the regulatory landscape in the Middle East and Africa region, leading to changes in the operation of startups.
Ramadan stressed the necessity of active involvement of startups in policy-making processes through educational initiatives and awareness campaigns involving relevant stakeholders.
He pointed out the significance of convertible bonds and robust exit strategies.
